Andrew has more than a decade of journalism experience covering breaking news, business, politics and human interest topics. His political and feature reporting has appeared in magazines and newspapers around the country. He is a staff writer for National Journal's CongressDaily where he covers intellectual property policy, litigation, privacy, civil liberties and Internet governance issues. He is also the author of Tech Daily Dose, a companion blog for the publication that takes readers inside the corridors of the Capitol, providing access to the conversations, strategies, and alliances that drive congressional action.

Prior to joining Atlantic Media, Andrew worked for Warren Communications News as associate editor for the flagship news service Communications Daily. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to associate managing editor for Washington Internet Daily. There, he covered Congress, the courts and the evolving Internet industry. In May 2006, he joined the adjunct faculty at American University’s School of Communication to teach journalism.

Before coming to WCN, Andrew was associate editor for the DC bureau of a UK-based news operation where he covered Congress and the federal agencies. He also gained newsroom management experience as assistant editor for a Washington monthly. Andrew frequently contributes to a variety of local, regional and national print and online publications where he covers pop culture, design, health and other issues.

Prior to pursuing graduate school, he worked in the Internet News Department for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Prague, Czech Republic in 2001 assisting in special projects including post-9/11 coverage and U.S./Russia relations. Andrew was the recipient of the 2001 Scripps Howard Foundation's Top Ten Award, an honor recognizing the 10 most promising young journalists in the country and was given the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi award. In 2000, he was one of a dozen American journalists chosen to meet with Israeli and Palestinian politicos, journalists and scholars in a unique Middle East summit in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

Andrew formerly worked as a correspondent for States News Service, providing coverage of Capitol Hill for various small and mid-sized newspapers around the country and for the New York Times News Service. Additional editorial experiences include Bernan Essential Reference Publications (contributing writer) and The Register-Herald/Beckley, W.Va. (staff reporter). Outside the realm of journalism, Andrew has varied experiences in public relations and public affairs consulting including stints at the nation's largest professional employee organization and a boutique media training and crisis communication firm.

Andrew has a master's degree in journalism & public affairs and a bachelor's degree in public communication from American University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He's also a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. First and foremost, he is a motivated, energetic professional journalist who is always in search of engaging, exciting opportunities in reporting that allow for "out of the box" thinking, a multitude of professional challenges and, of course, creative license.

He has been a featured guest on Washington Journal, C-SPAN’s popular political morning program; appeared on The Kojo Nnamdi Show and The Bryant Park Project on National Public Radio; and has provided commentary for Federal News Radio and MSNBC.com. In his free time, he enjoys international travel, fitness, films and exploring Washington's cultural scene and vibrant nightlife. -- Updated 8/08
